Last week was the debut of new head coach, Jason Kreis and a welcoming debut it was. Kreis closed out last Sunday’s game with a 3-0 victory and said in his post-game press conference that the team still had many changes to make. Last week the team struggled with some transitioning.

Tonight, with an outstanding 28,247 fans in the stadium, Orlando City sadly fell to the Seattle Sounders FC 3-1. There were a few promising moments. Nearly 6 minutes in Orlando City’s Sebastian Hines received a swift assist from Kaka to the Lions on the board 1-0. The Sounders forwards were relentless though. Especially the chemistry and dynamic between Seattle forward Clint Dempsey and wing man Jordan Morris. Dempsey put a straight shot on goal at the 13-minute mark. Dempsey and Morris connect again to at 36 minutes and then yet again at the 47th minute.

Orlando City struggled to break through the Sounders 5-man defensive line that was held quite tight the entire game. On a brighter note, the Lions utilized the entire field very well. Switching the field often and working hard to match the pace of Seattle. Kaka had a few strong moments dribbling through the Sounders defense, but lacked assistance at the top of the box sometimes. The overall game was definitely a physical fight to the finish, with 5 yellow cards handed out total. 4 of those 5 yellows disturbed to the Sounders FC players.

Moreover, the Lions struggled to out run the defense of Seattle leading them to the 3-1 defeat. The energy was still very high and the Lions received all of support from their dedicated fans regardless of the outcome. Next on the schedule Orlando City will hit the road to face the Chicago Fire.
